As part of the 'Traces group project brief we need to develop Illusionary ways to conceal and Reveal. As a group we brainstormed our initial thoughts about how we could do this and our ideas were:
- Exposed seams
- Slashing and tearing
- Burning fabric
- Bleaching
- Layering
- Zips revealing hidden layers underneath
- Frayed edges
Balmains' spring collection uses tattered and riped fabric but makes it look glamorous with layers of sequined fabric underneath. The whole collection has an element of 'concealing and revealing' and using sequins gives a beautiful cobweb effect. I also like the idea of leathers and denims revealing soft and floaty fabrics underneath and will discuss this when I next meet with my group.
